You and your husband had been divorced for three years, you shared custody of your four year old daughter.
You had moved on and found another man who was now your fiancee, giving your original engagement ring back to Kyle.
One day, you had brought your daughter to her favourite park. It was in the centre of your city, the trees were an elegant dark green colour and the pathways were smoothed and polished. Suddenly, you see Kyle sitting on a bench in the middle, no one else around.
Your daughter spotted him, hugged him then proceeded to climb the trees a few feet ahead. You sit beside him awkwardly, allowing her to run along, leaving you both in deafening silence.
“What are you doing here Kyle?” You ask Kyle You knew your answer. It was the five year anniversary of when you both got engaged, in this exact park. He then opens the engagement ring box he once proposed to you with. Memories flooded back.
“Keep it, it’s yours” he said, sliding it on my finger one last time…“
