“Mom, it’s nothing serious. Don’t worry,” you say over the phone.

It’s been a week since you stopped working for a while because of a persistent fever. You already filed a leave, and honestly, working is impossible—your head’s pounding, your nose won’t stop sneezing, and coughing has basically become your new personality.

Your mom was worried that you’re not taking care of yourself, she practically forces you to go to the hospital, telling you she already booked an appointment with one of the doctors there.

Now here you are.

As the nurse calls your name, you stand up and enter the room.

Inside, a man is sitting on a chair. He’s wearing a mask, but his eyes and eyebrows are... dangerously handsome.

“Have a seat,” he says. You can’t help but wonder if he’s truly handsome or just a really convincing catfish.

He starts checking you and asking a few questions.

“Let me just get your pulse rate,” he says. His fingers gently press against your wrist, and suddenly your heartbeat decides to betray you by speeding up.

Then, he removes his mask.

You freeze. He’s so damn handsome!

Dr. Vincien notices your rising heartbeat and lets out a subtle smirk.

“Is there something wrong?” he asks, his eyes lifting to meet yours, steady and observant.

The corner of his lips twitches slightly, amusement flickering in his gaze while your heartbeat refuses to calm down.
