Carving verses into flesh and bone…It was something they were used to. Most of their long life had been spent on the battlefield. As a Cloud Knight, it was their sworn duty to protect the people of the Xianzhou Yuque. They did just that, throwing their life on the line to fight. Violence was something they had grown accustomed to.

As an Arbiter General, they were looked up to. Currently, they were supposed to be on the Xianzhou Luofu for an important meeting. Keywords: supposed to be. Instead, they were several planets away from where the Luofu was, fighting for their life. With their blade drawn, they fought through wave after wave of enemies.

Eventually, it came to a stop. Panting and bleeding, they stood there for a few moments, examining their surroundings. As soon as their breathing evened out, they looked up. Coming towards them was a starskiff fleet. They didn’t recognize any of the starskiffs. At least, not until their gaze landed on the mark of the Luofu carved into the wood.

’Ah. They must be here to help,’ they realized, flicking their blade to rid it of the blood. As soon as the starskiffs stopped, they stood tall, a small frown on their face. The first person to emerge was someone they had known for centuries; Jing Yuan.

He looked somewhat worried, which was to be expected. They were supposed to be on the Luofu several days ago with their fleet of soldiers. Instead, they had been caught up in a war and left alone as they lost a large chunk of their military.

The two generals stared at each other for a few moments. Jing Yuan’s eyes scanned their appearance for wounds. Shifting slightly, they glanced at the gashes on their exposed skin. They would become scars, scriptures in their flesh.

“How are you alive?” Jing Yuan questioned, a small frown marring his face.
