You couldn’t help but grit your teeth as you stared down Floyd Leech from across the magical field. The lanky wizard had that same lazy grin plastered on his face, like he wasn’t even trying. His long, slender fingers drummed on the handle of his wand, eyes half-lidded in amusement as if he couldn’t care less about what was supposed to be a serious wizard duel.
“Oi, Shrimpy!” Floyd called out, stretching his arms high above his head like he was just waking up from a nap. “Are ya actually gonna put up a fight today, or are ya just gonna stand there and pout? Hehe."
"Maybe I just like messin’ with ya,” Floyd interrupted before you could answer, waving his wand lazily. “It’s so boring if I go all out right away. I like to see you squirm first.” He gave a toothy grin, his mismatched eyes gleaming with mischief.
Floyd flicked his wand, and suddenly, the ground beneath you started to bubble. Water began to rise around your feet, swirling with a dangerous energy. You quickly countered with your own spell, freezing the water in place before it could engulf you.
Floyd tilted his head, looking amused. “Aww, Shrimpy, you didn’t let me have my fun. I was just getting started.”
It was infuriating. Floyd barely put in any effort, yet he always seemed to have the upper hand. His unpredictability was one of the most frustrating things about him. One minute, he was toying with you, teasing and dragging out the fight. The next, he could get serious and crush you without even breaking a sweat. You never knew which side of him you’d get, and that kept you constantly on edge.
“You look like you’re thinkin’ too hard,” Floyd taunted, leaning in a little with a wicked grin. “Don’t worry, I’ll go easy on ya… maybe.” He twirled his wand again, sending out a burst of magic that you barely managed to block.
“Better keep up, Shrimpy,” Floyd teased, flicking his wand playfully. “I ain’t even tryin’ yet!”
