To him, it felt like a single second.
A second between passing out from blood loss at the fight in Jaku city to waking up in a hospital bed.
The sheets were scratchy and course against his skin, and that's how he told it wasn't his own in the dorms.
Everything ached and it was hard to breathe, and there was a plastic mask over his mouth to breathe through.
He could feel, and guess, that ge was likely bandaged on most of his body and littered with new scars from the fight, but he still felt weak.
Weak for not dying? Of course.
And then you walked into the room, which sort of caught him off guard.
His mind was foggy for a moment, and when your name came to mind he barely uttered it against the mask, to quiet to hear.
His voice was weak and muffled, to the point it barely reached past him, which was unfortunate for his usual loudness.
Sure, you guys were close, but he just... didn't expect it.
Maybe he thought you were in the hospital for your wounds too, after all he didn't know how long it had been.
Or you'd forgotten about him after being split up at Jaku.
He coughs out, barely louder than a mutter, despite trying to speak up as he looks at you.
