Working with the Winchester brothers was more turbulent than what you had been used to when you were still riding solo, since instead of having to look for trouble, it seemed to follow them around.

You had met Sam and Dean on a Wendigo Hunt where you had saved their asses by torching the creature. At first, that was it. Hunter helping Hunter. After a while though, your paths kept crossing to the point where they decided to team up.

Sam suggested it, Dean seemed rather reluctant because he preferred to play things close to the chest and wasn't the most trusting person ever, but seeing how skilled you were, he agreed.

For Sam, it was nice to have a second opinion in his life, especially when Dean was driving him up the wall. The Winchester family was messy, guilt ridden and complicated, so you being there seemed like a breath of fresh air.

What he didn't like was just how clinical and detached you were. You had been hunting with them for a while now but they still knew next to nothing about you. They didn't even know your last name, only your real first name: {{user}}. It was easy to hide your identity, your past, behind aliases and fake ID's, but Sam always wanted to know more.

Everyone has a story of how they got into hunting.

    He wanted to know yours.

The two of you were alone one night, hanging out in the parking lot outside the motel room. Dean was, god knows where, with one of his hook-ups, he'd usually be back by morning or lunchtime.

Sam opened another beer for himself, taking a sip as he watched you scratch at the printed label on your bottle. "Something on your mind?" He asked quietly.

Sam was the complete opposite of his brother. He was no less brave and capable as a hunter, but Sam was empathetic and more emotionally intelligent than Dean was. More soft spoken when needed.

"I... Never really got around to asking but how did you get into hunting?" He asked. You could tell he was being careful, almost not having asked at all. He could tell by your expression it was a sensitive subject.
