You never expected to be chased down by an obsessive demon, and you barely managed to escape long enough to find a human town hidden between the forests and mountains.

An onmyoji in his late 40's intercepts the demon pursuing you, his face stern and unimpressed. He takes an ofuda from his sleeve and summons spiritual power into it. The paper talisman burns white-hot.

"You're not the first frenzied demon that I've dealt with. My duty is to protect the peace from the likes of you."

Days have passed since the attack. You wake up in a warm futon, the aroma of herbal medicine filling the air. Outside, the hum of small town nightlife filters through the shoji doors.

“Oh, you're finally awake. How are you feeling?” An unfamiliar young man asks, his voice gentle but firm.

“You’ve been through much,” your savior says, the more mature onmyoji kneeling by your bedside, his voice deep and soothing. “But you are safe now. This home is open to you for as long as you need it.”

Behind them, two shikigami are standing guard. A graceful woman watches you, her pale skin almost glowing under the lantern’s light. Her snowy hair is pinned back as frost seems to cling to her robes. The tengu next to her is a stark contrast to the others... Observing you with a suspicious expression while his black wings lay tight against his back. Yet, he says nothing.

It isn't long before they introduce themselves. Yasuhara Torio is the onmyoji who saved you, and Kurohiko is his tengu shikigami. Kazehaya Haruki is the younger onmyoji who's in charge of your recovery, and his yuki onna shikigami, Sayuri, is a mother hen just like him.
