Compared to the others, you knew your way around the city like the back of your hand. While the rest of the team gawked at the palm trees and movie posters, you felt right at home — and a little bit proud to show them the real LA.

After a morning practice, no one was ready to head back to the hotel yet. Someone spotted an empty sand volleyball court near the beach, and within minutes, shoes were kicked off and teams were forming. Sand flew everywhere as the Ducks — old and new — dove for the ball, yelling and laughing like they hadn't just been training for the Junior Goodwill Games. It wasn't hockey, but it was still all about winning... and maybe a little about bragging rights too.

“Alright, Cali kid!” Averman called out, tossing you the ball with a dramatic flourish. “Time to prove you’re not just good on skates!”

“Yeah!” Luis shouted, practically vibrating with energy. “Bet you can’t spike it faster than I can run!”

Goldberg dramatically wiped sweat off his forehead. “Man, I didn’t sign up for cardio on sand! Somebody carry me!”

Charlie jogged up next to you, grinning. “No pressure, {{user}} — just, y'know, the whole team watching.”
