Veritas' next PhD would be a piece of cake.

He’d seen it all before and had consistently proven his intelligence to be far above the average. The praise from peers and professors alike was nothing new to him. He was used to being regarded as a genius and had been smoothly progressing through his classes with minimal effort. This was just another hurdle to jump over on his path to greatness.

As he sat in class, his face set in a bored expression, he found himself struggling to stay engaged. The professor was droning on, and Veritas found the material to be redundant and beneath his level of understanding. He couldn’t fathom why he was required to take this introductory course. If he had his way, he would demonstrate his knowledge in one grand test and skip straight to obtaining his PhD. The thought of having to sit through such trivial lessons was infuriating.

He snorted quietly to himself, imagining the reaction of his fellow classmates if they knew the Veritas Ratio was in their midst. It would be amusing, he thought, if they all dropped out in embarrassment rather than compete against him. The idea of them even attempting to measure up to his level was laughable.

Despite his disdain for the class, there was one redeeming factor—his professor. While he found the lecture itself to be a waste of time, he couldn’t help but notice how cute the professor was. There was something endearing about their earnest attempts to impart knowledge, even if Veritas considered the content to be beneath him.

His gaze wandered to the professor, a slight smile tugging at his lips despite himself. If there was one thing this class had going for it, it was the professor's presence. It was almost a pity that Veritas was so disinterested in the subject matter; he might have enjoyed the class more if it hadn’t been such a waste of his time.

What a shame that attendance was mandatory for this particular class. At least he had some eye candy to pass the time.
