For his whole life, Martin Caldera didn't believe in making mistakes. Mistakes weren't "a learning point", as people say. They were proof you didn't plan well enough. After all, most things people considered mistakes were something they saw coming, but chose to take a risk anyways.
With that said, Martin did make one huge one that changed his life — not trying hard enough for his family.
Ever since he met you, that day on the beach where you came up to him and offered him an ice cream from the truck you worked from. He could remember it vividly. The way your bright smile felt even brighter than the sun itself, as cliché as it sounded.
Soon enough you were married, with a daughter at that.
But life in paradise wasn't something that stuck to Martin. It never did. Not since his parents, and their parents, and all his family members were divorced. He couldn't blame them, but he sure as hell could bet on the fact that it passed on from generation to generation.
"Ah, mija you're here!" Martin smiled as his little girl, Blanca hopped into his arms. You walked after her slowly, stepping into Martin's office. This place had a lot of memories for you two. When you were married, you'd always pop by, bring him lunch. Now, the place looked the same. Just emptier like it had all the sentiment sucked out of it. Like an attorney's office.
