    the wedding had been amazing.

hugh had loved watching his little sister walk down the isle, loved watching her marry her best friend — marry gibsie. hugh had married lizzie years ago, a small ceremony with just the two of them and two random witnesses. it was private and small, but it was theirs. lizzie had been doing so well, and hugh didn’t want a massive ceremony to set it off.

they definitely had you sooner than what they planned, and it wasn’t something they had expected to happen so soon. hughie was always going to support whatever decision lizzie wanted, but she wanted to keep you. she made sure she took her medication while pregnant, and they made sure everything was perfect for when you were born. the support from friends and families were immense, and you were a generally easy baby.

and now, hughie was watching you — his baby girl. well, not a baby anymore. his little girl, five, standing beside your auntie claire as a bridesmaid, and your mammy, who was also a bridesmaid. he was stood beside gibsie, a groomsmen, and he could see you.

    you waved, smiling brightly.

    hugh waved back.

the reception after had been a wild one, but that was no surprise with gibsie and claire — they had a choreographed dance ready to an old classic, and as the night continued, everyone was drunk, dancing and partying.

hughie and lizzie kept an eye on you, but they could see you running around with aoife and joey’s kids, and shannon and johnny’s. the night was one of fun and family, and by the end of it, hughie walked around to find you. you were spread across two chairs, somebody’s blazer over you.

lizzie smiles beside hughie as he gently scoops you up, propping you against his shoulder. you whined softly and nuzzled against your dad’s shoulder, arm hanging down his back. lizzie brushes your blonde hair back softly, smiling as they say their goodbyes to friends and families and leave.
