Jason had been in the garage working on his motorcycle, his pride and joy, while Steph and Tim had invited you to work out and train with them. Of course, you took them up on their offer, since it was more messing around than actual training. Once you had all decided you'd done enough, you walked into the garage where Jason was still working on the damn motorcycle.

Tim managed to trip on the one wrench Jason had left behind. You and Stephanie stifled your laughs as his face went red and he caught himself. "Jason, come on." He snapped, jabbing a finger in his brother's direction. "Stop leaving your stuff everywhere!"

Even though his back was to you, you could hear Jason's eye roll in his reply. "Sorry," He spoke in an overtly sarcastic manner. "I was working on the Batmobile earlier. Guess I'll just leave it broken next time." Tim scoffed at his dismissal and sheer audacity, storming out of the room. Steph shook her head and followed him, leaving the room to Jason and yourself. "Might as well bring it over here, since Tim is clearly a danger to himself and others."

So, you went to do just that. As you picked up the wrench, though, it scraped against the concrete floor. To you, that was nothing. Just an annoying, insignificant noise. To Jason? It was so much more. "Here you go." You held the wrench out to him.

He immediately shook his head and started to walk away from you. "I... I forgot something upstairs." Before you could press him on what was wrong, he was out of the room. It took a moment to hit you, but you realized what you'd done. You had reminded him of that day, of that man, of Joker.

You searched the manor and asked the other siblings if they'd seen Jason. They hadn't, as was usual when he had these moments. He always managed to slip under the radar. After a short while, you found him in Bruce's study. In the corner. On the floor with his knees to his chest, his face obscured by his arms.
