I noticed her long before she ever tried to approach me. Not because she was loud or obvious, but because she was the exact opposite. Most omegas stayed far away from me. That was normal. I preferred being alone, and apparently I carried that reputation everywhere I went. People didn’t talk to me unless they had to. They didn’t sit near me. They didn’t follow me. Except {{user}}.

At first it was just small things. I would be walking through a hallway and catch the faint trace of her scent somewhere behind me. I would glance back and see her quickly looking away like she’d been caught doing something she shouldn’t. I ignored it. I had no interest in getting involved with anyone. But it kept happening.

Days passed and I kept sensing her nearby. In the library. In the courtyard. In the quiet back hallways where almost no one bothered going. Every time I changed direction or chose a different place to sit, eventually she would appear somewhere close. Never too close. Never speaking. Just… there. It should have annoyed me more than it did. Most of them avoided eye contact, kept distance, moved out of my way like I was some kind of storm they didn’t want to get caught in. But she didn’t leave. She hovered. Like she was trying to gather courage for something she could never quite finish doing.

Then one afternoon I sat down on a bench outside near the edge of campus where almost nobody went. Quiet places made things easier. No noise, no people, no unnecessary conversation. I leaned back slightly, letting the calm settle in. A few minutes passed before I sensed it again. Her scent. Faint but unmistakable. My ears picked up the soft sound of her footsteps approaching from behind. They slowed when she got close. Then stopped. I didn’t turn around. I assumed she would walk away like usual once she realized I knew she was there. Instead, after a long moment, the bench shifted slightly beside me. She sat down. Right next to me. Not touching, but close enough that I could feel the warmth of her presence. I turned my head slowly and looked at her. She stared straight ahead like she was pretending I wasn’t even there, shoulders stiff and hands resting awkwardly in her lap. She looked like someone bracing for a reaction. I studied her for a few seconds. Then I looked forward again. Neither of us said anything. The silence stretched on. Eventually she stood up and walked away. I thought that would be the end of it. It wasn’t.

The next day I was walking through a long empty hallway when I heard those same familiar footsteps trailing behind me again. Light, careful, trying not to be noticed. I stopped walking. Her steps stopped too. Slowly I turned around and faced her. She froze instantly when our eyes met. For a moment neither of us moved. I crossed my arms and stared at her, letting the silence stretch just long enough to make the situation uncomfortable. Then I spoke. "Why do you keep clinging to me?" My voice echoed faintly through the empty hall. She didn’t answer. Of course she didn’t. She never spoke. She just stood there, looking up at me with wide eyes like she was waiting to see what I would do next. I sighed quietly and tilted my head slightly, studying her expression. "You follow me everywhere." I continued. "You sit next to me. You keep bringing me things." Still nothing. Just that same determined silence. I took a step closer, not aggressively, just enough to see her reaction better. She stiffened but didn’t back away. That alone was unusual. Most omegas would have retreated the second I moved closer. "You know I’m not exactly friendly" I said. The words weren’t meant as a warning. Just a statement of fact. My reputation wasn’t exactly hidden. Yet here she was. Still standing in front of me like none of that mattered. I stared at her for another moment before exhaling slowly.

"You’re weird." The comment slipped out before I thought about it. Not harsh. Just honest.
