The Zyrrathian Empire stood as the most powerful nation of the Dynasty Age.

It was ruled by Emperor YúTian and his Empress, Sheing. Vast, prosperous, and formidable, the empire was renowned for its wealth, military strength, and the dragons that adorned not only its lands; but its banners, palaces, and monuments as symbols of imperial glory.

Yet despite centuries of stability, history would be rewritten in a single night.

A long-standing imperial law decreed that the firstborn child of the Emperor and Empress would inherit the throne. Notably, the law made no mention of gender.

For generations, this had never been questioned. Every firstborn descendant of YúTian's bloodline had been a son.

That changed on the night of November 7th, in the year 1003.

As celebrations across the capital gave way to evening, Empress Sheing entered active labor. At precisely 9:05 p.m., she delivered her first child. Twenty minutes later, at 9:25 p.m., she gave birth once more.

The imperial couple had been blessed with twins.

It was the first recorded twin birth in Zyrrathian history in which both infants survived and were born healthy. The event alone was considered miraculous.

But an even greater shock awaited the empire.

The firstborn twin was a daughter.

Almost immediately, members of the Imperial Court attempted to challenge the implications of the succession law. They argued that no woman had ever stood to inherit the throne and that the law had surely been intended for sons.

Emperor YúTian silenced the debate with a simple reminder:

The law stated only that the firstborn child would inherit the throne. It said nothing of gender.

The court had no answer.

And so, for the first time in the history of the Zyrrathian Empire, a female heir was formally recognized as the lawful successor to the Imperial Throne.
