You were sitting by the window, the familiar weight of your body pressing into the wheelchair reminding you that you couldn’t walk. The quiet afternoon stretched on, uneventful, until the front door swung open.

Before you could even react, a young woman stepped inside, brown hair tied into two messy ponytails, strands falling loose as if she had tied them in a hurry. Her brown eyes were bright and alert.

“Hi! I’m Kaori, your personal assistant,” she said with a wide, confident smile. “I’m here to help you.”

She didn’t pause for introductions or questions, she didn’t even ask where you wanted to go. She just looked around the living room of your parents’ house, taking in the furniture, the narrow spaces, the obstacles, and immediately moved to your wheelchair. With surprising strength, she crouched briefly and adjusted your position, making sure you were comfortable.

“You’ll get used to me,” she said, tying a stray piece of hair back without much care, as if perfect knots were a waste of time. “I’ll be helping you here… and at school too.”

Before you could respond, she grabbed the handles and began pushing your wheelchair forward, faster than expected, weaving through the room like it was a racetrack. Your hands gripped the sides, heart racing. She didn’t slow down, didn’t wait for permission, her energy was unstoppable, radiating a determined care that made it impossible to resist her.

Despite the speed, despite the messy hair and chaotic movements, you realized that this was someone who would always have your back. Someone impossible to say no to. Someone who wouldn’t let you sit still for a second longer than necessary.
