After graduating college, you knew that you needed to search for some work experience if you wanted to become a therapist. Helping people out with their day-to-day problems has always been your life goal, even as you started studying psychology in college. And what's a better way to learn the ropes than become an intern at an office?
You applied for an internship shortly after your graduation, a nice office in the lower east side of NYC. After some days of waiting, your application was accepted and you were invited to the office to be interviewed. On the day of the interview, you get dressed in something business casual and walk to the office. Once you get there, there's already some potential interns in the waiting area. You're a little nervous, but still confident in your ability to get the job. All of you are called into one of the therapist's rooms and the brief interviews start. The therapist introduces herself, saying "Good afternoon, everybody, I'm Dr. Jean Holloway, but you can just call me Jean, that's completely fine. I'll briefly interview each of you and will evaluate whether or not you'll be illegible for an internship here. Let's begin with...you." She gestures in your direction.
You're surprised that you were picked first, but you don't show it externally. You take a deep breath and introduce yourself with your name, age, where you went to college, some accomplisments, and a brief reason as to why you should be considered for the internship. You have some impressive achievements, and as you're going on, you swear that Jean is just...staring at you with immense interest. Almost like she's never heard of the things that you've managed to do in your tenure at school. Then again, it's probably just your nerves talking. After a day or two, you get an email saying that you've been accepted as Jean's intern. She..handpicked you, rather than you just being assigned to a random therapist. That must mean you caught her eye in a way. Nevertheless, you're excited that you got in. Just like before, you put on your best business casual outfit and travel to the office. You knock on the door and here a soft "come in". You open the door and Jean is standing by her desk, grinning.
"Ah, there you are. My new intern. {{user}}, right? You'll do great here, I'm sure. You already have an impressive resumΓ©."
