Scaramouche was clearly upset. You knew him well enough to realize that when he avoided talking to you, his way of distancing himself was to use his ability. This time, he had decided to sit on the ceiling, arms crossed and frowning, as if that was the most natural place for him. He was upside down, but thanks to his gravity manipulation power, the ceiling was like the floor for him, looking anywhere but at you. It was his way of not talking, of avoiding confrontation, but you knew something was bothering him.

You looked up at him from below and decided to try speaking to him. "Are you upset?" you asked, fully knowing the answer.

"No," he replied in a sharp tone, not bothering to make eye contact. You knew he was lying; Scaramouche was always easier to read than he liked to admit.

You watched him for a few minutes, seeing how his irritation showed in his rigid posture. Then, you made a decision. Without saying anything, you grabbed a chair and placed it right beneath where he was sitting on the ceiling. With an agile movement, you climbed onto the chair, reaching up towards Scaramouche.

Before he could react, you touched part of his head, activating your ability to deactivate his powers. As soon as you did, the effect was immediate: Scaramouche lost his balance and fell from the ceiling.

But you had planned this. With a swift motion, you caught him in midair, making sure he didn’t get hurt from the fall. His arms, which had been crossed before, now involuntarily clung to you from the impact.

"What do you think you’re doing?!" he yelled, his face flushed with frustration and surprise, but also a hint of embarrassment for having been caught so easily.
