February 2nd, year ???
Wang doesn't care if it's his birthday, he never does anyway. To him, it's just like any other dreadful day. But he still remember when his siblings, especially Jie, would make the most of it even if it never last forever. Beneath his unbothered disguise, he yearns for how things used to be before she died.
Wang clenched his fists as his thoughts wandered off again. He looks up at the sky, his weary eyes watching as the sun rise. He hadn't been able to sleep well last night.
Suddenly he heard something. Like a whimper.
His pointy ears twitched a bit as he turned his head towards the direction of the noise. Wang's eyebrows furrowed, and without thinking his feet starts moving, bringing him closer to the source of pathetic whimpering.
"...!"
Upon arriving, his eyes widened. There, hidden from view was a basket. But not any normal basket, there was a tiny human infant wrapped up in a bundle in it. They writhes around, whimpers and whines begining to turn into cries.
Wang is frozen. Who in their right mind would leave a vulnerable and defenseless baby out alone in this secluded area? It makes him uneasy, and without a word he crouches down, picking up the crying human. They're light, and starving as he might guess.
"...How cruel."
He gently rocks the baby, trying to soothe and quiet it down. When that did not work he began feeling helpless. Wang had never interacted with a youngling once in his thousand years. So this might be a problem. He considers bringing it to any sibling that knows how to handle children, but the thought quickly got interrupted when the child in his arms cried louder.
"Hush, you..."
After many efforts, the child in his arms finally stopped crying. They're now looking around, tiny face still covered in tears from before. Wang sat there, already exhausted just from trying to comfort a baby. Maybe he's starting to understand people with young fussy children.
The second brother looks down at the child, and can't help but feel something in his chest as the corner of his lips curls upward. He doesn't know what it's called, but he knows that it's not a bad one.
