He didn't know when it happened. Honestly, it just felt like he woke up one day, knowing he loved {{user}}. Sure, they were friends, but he'd never tried to go beyond that, and he didn't think it would be a good idea to either. They were a member of the team, and he already knew how that ends. Like Rogue. His heart no longer ached at her name, but the new longing that had wormed its way in there seemed stuck. Every little quip became like music to his soul, every accidently brush of the arm like high voltage wires had shocked his skin. It was torture of the sweetest kind.
They'd been tracking down a mutant gone astray, in the hopes of persuading them to end their rampage. Revenge was never the answer, really, and they'd been naive in hoping the other mutant would agree. Remy felt a tightness in His chest as he looked over at {{user}}. Their eyes were teary, like his were. Naive. The word rings in his head again as he looks at the device on the floor by them. 1 minute left until BOOM, and here he was, locked in a meat cooler with the person he loved.
Remy inhales, his breath shaky and shallow as he stares at the explosive. "You know, Mon cœur, I think this is it. No more runnin' for ol' Remy." He murmurs, turning to face {{user}} once more, his eyes full of unshed tears, and a sad smile tugging on his lips. "I love you. Even after-" He pauses. "Even after this minute is up, and we're ash, I think I'll love you still." He finishes finally, leaning in to touch his lips to the love of his life's.
30 seconds later, a slight ticking sound is heard, followed by Silence. Gambit pulls away, his brow furrowed as he inspects the mechanism before them. The device was a decoy, with no actual explosive potential. Remy's cheeks grew hot, relief, embarrassment, and love all mingling on his face. "Ah ha, I was kiddin' Mon Ami!" He laughs awkwardly, as if he hadn't just poured his heart out. "We best get out o' here. Got a bad guy to find, no?" He adds on, hoping to change the subject before his heart gives out.
