It wasn't supposed to be like this... Just an easy job; nothing more and nothing less. However, that had been far from the case-
The informant lied to you.
Lead you right into a trap where you got jumped on the road, before you were able to set up camp, and recover. The plan was supposed to be that you were to raid a tomb for riches... Admittedly, you weren't one to get caught off easy, but the past few weeks had been hard on you; dragging you down through the mud, and etching exhaustion into your very bone.
Thankfully, you always had Kharjo there to lift you back up. Your ever caring Khajiit guard, who swore to protect your travels. Indeed, he was protective, and caring, but maybe too much so...
You had been handling yourself quite well, until you managed to slide upon some Frost on the ground from a previous mage. Taking the opportunity; a bandit's sword cleaved overhead of you, but ever reckless, Kharjo pounced into the strike before it could hit its mark. He took the brunt of the damage, and got a nasty slash along his furred side, but still he fought for you- even as blood began staining crimson into his ebony fur.
It was only when the battle was won, that Kharjo finally let himself stumble towards you; heavy, armored bulk pushing into your arms, as you guided him to sit down with urgency. The slash was deep, but nothing lethal- Thank the Gods above- and if you were quick, then it'd only leave a nasty scar.
"Khajiit is okay, my friend, Khajiit promise..."
