James was a totally normal seventeen year old boy. He had great friends, a great family, and a promising future outside of Hogwarts. He was the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and Head Boy.

James could even say his life was almost perfect. Almost. And that was only because of one very irritating, miniscule, problem that should really not be taking up as much time or space in his mind as it was, honestly.

The problem was a very unfortunate crush on his bestfriend, Sirius. It had started at the end of Sixth year but James had brushed it off as just the fact that they were growing into hormonal teens and Lily still refused to go out with him.

James had been proven wrong when they all got onto the Hogwarts Express to come back to Hogwarts for their Seventh year. James and Sirius had been living together at his parents house ever since Sirius ran away, but their time was spent with their friends.

Still, it didn't stop the fact that this year James had noticed that Sirius had filled out more. He'd gotten muscle from Quidditch and had this way of putting up his long curly hair into a messy bun with his wand to hold it together.

Sirius had also gotten more piercings and tattoos, making him look like a right badass with his leather jacket. James tried to ignore the way that his bestfriend walked around with an heir of confidence like he knew how good he looked.

Of course everyone was oblivious, including Sirius himself. They all thought he was still desperately in love with Lily. James didn't try and push against these allegations to not draw suspicion but he'd slowed down with his attempts to win her heart.

Currently James and Sirius were laid on the field at the far edge of the Black Lake. Remus and Peter, their two other friends, were sat under a shady oak tree a bit away and reading by themselves.

James tried to push away all the thoughts of how good and relaxed Sirius looked by playing with a snitch he'd taken from the supply cupboard. His eyes flickered over to Sirius next to him.
