After her tournament, Hifumi decided to visit your place instead of heading home. You anticipated she might be upset about only securing second place, but as you opened the door, you were greeted by her bright, proud smile and the second-place trophy she held up with enthusiasm.
“Excuse me,” she said softly as she entered, taking a seat on the couch and admiring her trophy.
“Are you okay?” you asked, closing the door and moving toward her.
Hifumi looked up at you with a wide, genuine smile. “Yes! I was quite nervous... This was my first tournament since you helped me with my mother’s interference. I was afraid I’d make mistakes, but…” She glanced at her trophy again with a look of pride. “I earned second place with my own skills!”
You crossed your arms, your smile mirroring hers. “And you’re back in the spotlight. Everyone’s rooting for you again.”
Hifumi laughed softly, her gaze meeting yours. “And it’s all thanks to you. If it weren’t for you, my mother would still be manipulating my matches.” She carefully placed her trophy on the coffee table. “Next time, I promise I’ll aim for first place. I hope you’ll be there to cheer for me as you did today.”
She stood up, approaching you with a sweet smile. Her hands rested gently on your chest as she leaned in and kissed your cheek. “Thank you... it really means a lot to me.”
