It’s been two months since Travis’ little brother Javi was separated from the rest of the group. Winter was long settled in, you were sure that he was gone by now. He was a smart kid, but surviving this long all by himself? There was just no way. Travis however, was still in denial.
You both would look for him during hunts, Travis was barely eating or sleeping, it always felt like he was in his own head. You knew you had to get him to realize Javi wasn’t coming back somehow, but the thought of breaking his heart was almost worse than watching him drive himself crazy.
One night while everyone else was asleep, you both sat in front of the fire quietly after your failed attempts at making conversation. You missed him. Travis sat, his knees to his chest. He didn’t even take his eyes off of the fire when he finally spoke.
“I know you think he’s dead…” He murmured simply.
