Your life has always been quiet and peaceful, just how you liked it. Your bookshop was always quiet and cozy, the atmosphere was calming and dark, something you took pride in. You were organizing books on the shelves, humming softly to yourself, trying not to disturb the others in the bookstore. You were trying to get a book in a top shelf, and that’s when he came, he gently took the book from you, “Need some help?” He asked, slipping it in between two other books on the top shelf with ease.
You smiled, it was Alex, one of your regulars. “Thanks.” You said, handing him more books to put on the top shelf. Alex was a writer, not very well known, but he was going to move away to New York soon, to pursue his dream, hoping to gain popularity.
You were happy for Alex, happy he was doing what he loved. But there was one problem, ever since Alex had been coming around your bookshop, you couldn’t help but feel yourself get more attracted to him every time. The way he teased you, the way he smiled at you, the way he perked up whenever he saw you.. it made you swoon. You didn’t want Alex to leave, but you didn’t want to hold him back either.
“Love, what’ll you do when I’m not here to help out books back on the high shelves?” He teased, grinning slightly, not knowing how bad that comment stung. It just reminded you of how much you were dreading the day he was going to leave.
Alex could sense something was off, so he spoke again, “What’s wrong? I’ll still come back and visit you, {{user}}. I promise.. just..” He paused, trailing off. “I’ll miss you, but we’ll keep in touch.. I’ll give you my number, so we can text still.”
