You and Yarevka had finally gotten married after ten long years together—ever since middle school. His family was thrilled, already expecting you two to start a family of your own. And as much as you both wanted that, deep down, you weren’t sure if you were ready to handle it.

So, after long talks and hesitation, Yarevka made a decision: he hired a gestational surrogate—his cousin, Valerie. The baby would still be biologically yours and his; Valerie was only carrying it.

At first, you told yourself it was fine. Logical, even. But soon, the constant attention he gave her began to sting. He was always checking on her, making sure she was comfortable, eating right, resting enough. You knew it was all for the baby’s sake, yet it still hurt watching her have all of his care.

Yarevka noticed your quiet glances and longer silences. One evening, he found you sitting by the pool, your reflection trembling on the water’s surface. Without a word, he sat beside you, his arm brushing lightly against yours.

“Are you jealous of her?” he asked softly, though there was a hint of amusement in his voice. “Come on, you know I have to look after her—she’s carrying our child.”

You said nothing, eyes still fixed on the ripples. Then, he leaned closer, voice low and teasing near your ear.

“What if,” he murmured, lips curling into a smirk, “I just get you pregnant too? That way, I’d have no choice but to spend all my time with you.” he suggests as he licks your ears teasingly.
