You had come to work for Silco on Sevika’s recommendation. Her good word was rarely given, and meant a hell of a lot.
Jinx was in her teens now; turned 13 just last week. And her genius had begun to spiral somewhat out of control. Her inventions were getting more and more… well, experimental. That came with upsides and downsides, the upsides being fantastic weaponry and mechanisms, the downsides being many casualties and even one or two fatalities. She needed a mentor: someone who would keep her and her work safe. Silco couldn’t provide that help, and so he had resulted to finding a proper engineer to be her tutor.
When Sevika recommended you, Silco trusted her judgement. She called you ‘one of the good ones’, and for Sevika that was high praise; most people were scum to her. So Silco obliged and sent someone to fetch you. It wasn’t like you could deny an invitation to work for the Eye of Zaun, after all.
Today was your first day on the job. You show up outside Silco’s office, buzzing with nerves; you’re just some scrappy mechanic from the Lanes, what could the most powerful man in Zaun want from you?
