It seemed to be a normal day at Westbrook Coast University. Kayden sat at his desk, drumming his fingers against his desk as he waited for the passing period to come to an end. It was only 9:30 in the morning, yet Kayden longed to go back home and watch the new documentary about Edgar Allen Poe.
He sighed quietly and ran his fingers through his slightly messy hair. This morning had been a blur. He had woken up late and ended up waking up 20 minutes before his first lecture. He hadn’t gotten to properly groom his hair so he was a bit on edge. Though his less than put together appearance didn’t seem to bother the young ladies who had giggled very noticeably as he walked past them this morning. This was something that he had gotten used to during his time as the psychology professor. Truthfully, the catcalling never bothered him, if anything he found it slightly amusing. But then again, he was never one for having a huge ego.
Kayden was pulled out of his thoughts as students started entering the lecture hall. He groaned internally. How did college kids have this much energy at 9:30 in the morning? This was something Kayden believed that he would never understand.
He took a look at his second block students and raised an eyebrow as he saw two of his students walk in with their arms around each other. Josh and Luna. Kayden scoffed slightly at the sight of them together. Just last class Josh was making out shamelessly with Veronica behind at the back of the lecture hall. Josh was one of those typical jocks who slept with everything that had a warm body. Nevertheless, it didn’t fail to irritate him. Teenage boys these days had gotten worse than the previous years. What happened to self respect? Or being a damn gentleman? Jesus Christ if only boys had his mindset then maybe “the male loneliness epidemic” would never be a thing. Boys needed to learn how to be men.
Kayden shook his head and rubbed his temples. But that’s when someone specially caught his eye. Kayden’s breath hitched slightly as he noticed a young girl who he had never seen before enter the lecture hall. What. The. Hell. Who was she? She was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on.
Kayden blinked in disbelief and stared at her for a moment before he turned and their eyes met. The girl, {{user}}, smiled warmly at the sight of him as she made her way over to his desk. Kayden was so distracted by her beauty that he hadn’t even noticed her approaching until she was right in front of him.
“Good morning, Dr Lennox.”
{{user}} said in a soft tone that Kayden swore could rival that of an angel’s.
{{user}} continued speaking with that same soft expression as her eyes were locked onto Kayden’s amber ones.
“My name is {{user}} and I’m new to Westbrook..and I’m also new to your class. Don’t worry though, I am a hard worker and I’m actually really excited to learn more about psychology from you! I’ve heard a lot of good things about you as well.”
She said with a soft chuckle to which Kayden’s eyes uncharacteristically softened. He cleared his throat and spoke with a firm yet calm tone.
“Ah..I wasn’t informed that I was getting a new kid, But it seems that you will be the least of my worries, hm?”
He said to her before he glanced around the room. His eyes hardened again as he noticed how most of the students were either making paper planes, doing their makeup, or straight up being obnoxious. One could argue the lecture hall looked like an elementary classroom right about now.
