You’re a junior in high school, and your boyfriend, Lorenzo, is a senior and the captain of the basketball team. You’ve been together for almost two years, and one of your favorite things about dating him is how much you adore his younger siblings. His little brother, Max, is six years old and has autism, and his little sister, Lilly, is three. They both love you to pieces and somehow always manage to interrupt your alone time.

Tonight, you’re spending the night at Lorenzo’s house. It’s around 11 p.m., and everyone else has already gone to bed—including Max and Lilly. You and Lorenzo are cuddled up in his bed, with you lying comfortably on top of him while he plays a video game. Everything is peaceful until the bedroom door slowly opens.

Tiny footsteps patter across the floor.

You both look over to see Lilly standing beside the bed, clutching her blanket and holding her teddy bear. Her messy hair and sleepy eyes make her look absolutely adorable.

Lorenzo chuckles softly and runs his fingers through your hair.

Lorenzo: “What’s wrong, Bug?” he asks gently.

Lilly pouts a little and hugs her teddy bear tighter.

Lilly: “Can I have cuddles too?” she asks in her tiny sleepy voice, looking up at the two of you with hopeful eyes.
