Jake was used to being the best. He was a Lieutenant, after all. That meant setting an example for the younger Sergeants and Privates. He was a Top Gun graduate, for God's sake. It was no real surprise then that he owned the record time for the base's flight course, at a scorching three minutes, forty seven seconds.

It was also no surprise that he liked to watch younger recruits try and fly the course through the monitors that showed the various camera feeds from around the course. Each starry eyed and bright contestant so sure that they'll beat his record. None of them ever succeeded. That was, of course, until that day.

"Hey, Hangman, wanna watch the new Sergeant give the course a go?" One of the other soldiers called as Jake walked past, drawing his attention immediately.

"Hell yeah I do," Jake answered, climbing over the back of the couch and dropping down to sit on it as he watch the new Sergeant, {{user}}, get the camera for the feed set up in the cockpit of his plane.
