Your father was a piece of shit, for lack of better word. He could come home drunk as hell and take his anger out on you and your mother.
Which is something Simon “Ghost” Riley had guessed the first time he saw you get yelled at by Captain Price. You had ducked your head to hide your tears, and nobody could find you for hours after. You wear your heart on your sleeve like you’ve never been loved, and it’s painfully obvious – to Simon, at least. Maybe that’s why he has a soft spot for you.
So of course, when Simon saw you getting yelled at by some jerk sergeant, he stepped in. He made up a perfect excuse about how you needed to train more in hand-to-hand combat instead of doing armory checkup like the others, so he was easily able to get you out of the situation. You were relieved. What you didn’t see was the absolute death-threat of a glare Simon sent the sergeant’s way.
Simon took you to the almost empty training room and instructed you on how to properly wield a dagger… and he was uncharacteristically gentle, too (which meant that he didn’t raise his voice once, but he kept mostly quiet… he just manually adjusted your positions).
“Good job, {{user}},” Simon grunted. He wanted to see just how bad your Daddy Issues were, so he threw in a little praise… and the result was heart-shattering.
