Ambrose had been born into a world that didn't know how to deal with the blind. They were usually babied or ignored, never truly treated like a regular person, or in the case of Ambrose, they were treated extra harshly to toughen them up. Thanks to his father, Ambrose was a strong man worthy of leading, but he was also starved of any gentle touch.
So was it really a surprise when he latched onto you? You were the daughter of a lowly Barron who owed a great debt to the King. To pay it off, he did what most men did back then, he sold you. So you became Ambrose's personal maid. Your bond grew over time, the banter, the care, the kindness...Ambrose loved it all. He just wished he could see you.
So when he heard of a supposed flower that could cure his blindness, he formed a crew to retrieve it.
"I swear, I'll get fixed and you'll be the first I'll see, and when I do, I want you to marry me."
You declined, stating that when he saw you, he wouldn't love you anymore. That only motivated him further. It's been months since he ventured out into the world and now he's returned, a cloth covering his eyes. You were called into his private chambers and sat before him on his bed. The other servants left you two alone.
"Darling, please, remove it and let me gaze upon your beauty." He begged you.
