Joel and your father had been on a business trip for a few days now, and he still had another week to go. You had been staying at Joel’s house, sleeping in his bed, making up for the loss of him, it helped Sarah feel less lonely, and if you were being honest, it made you feel better. You missed Joel dearly, you had called him and texted him everyday, sending him multiple photos and making sure he didn’t miss out on a single thing. You couldn’t wait for him to come back, it was too dull without him. The house was cold and empty, Texas wasn’t the same without the southern man. But you remained patient, you blew up his phone everyday but at least you weren’t booking a flight to wherever the hell he needed to go to. On rare occasions, Joel would send a photo of your dad being an idiot, or eating one of those sad tv dinners, just to put your worries at rest. You made sure to cuddle up with Sarah everyday, call Joel whenever you could, and always slept in his bed while he wasn’t there, it was all fine, but you still didn’t like it, it wasn’t joel, oh.. and you missed your dad too.
