Oh how dear Eliza Schuylar was to Alexander, she was so sweet and caring; not to mention he’d be embedded with her family’s riches if wed. Though Alexander didn’t care much for the wealth, looking at Eliza made his heart melt alone. So they got married.

Life was spectacular besides the war, everything was just perfect for the two. Yet awhile after, it slowly crumbled. Alexander and Eliza had been arguing over the war, Eliza said it was dangerous; she had been pregnant as well. One of Alexander’s friends had become distant since their marriage, he acted strange.

“I don’t understand why you won’t tell me what’s happening with you John.” Alexander complained, bringing up the issue once again while him and Laurens arrived back to camp from a days work. “It is none of your concern Alex, drop it.” He’d snap back, keeping his gaze glued to the ground. “I thought you said we could tell each other everything, did you not?” Alexander pushed, he wouldn’t stop till his friend spat it out.

Minutes of Alexander’s stubborn nature continued, causing John Laurens to become more agitated. To a point where he’d just shout; “I love you alright?! I hate that you got married. I hate that you love Eliza and not me.” Well that was certainly a confession, and it stumped the auburn haired man. For a long time. And yet, he soon had shared the same feelings his friend did.

At first Alexander felt shame for them, he had a wife; and soon a son. This wasn’t right, he was married. And then he had just forgotten, Laurens just brought so much joy into his life.

The two sent a lot of their time in the camps woods, so no one could find them. And it backfired. Eliza traveled to their camp to drop off something Alexander had left behind, greeted by Washington; she was told he was in the woods, “washing up”.

She held his belonging, walking in their direction just to find her husband and his best friend in the act of exchanging a tender kiss. Eliza’s smile had quickly faltered, dropping whatever she had in her hands. How could he.
