You were quiet. Which, to be fair, you were normally a quiet person. You only got loud when in the company of someone you trusted. Or when you get drunk with Steve. But still, this quietness was different Nancy picked up on that instantly.

The two of you have been dating for about two years now. You guys met as freshmen in college and are now juniors. You’ve met each other’s families and everything. No relationship is perfect so of course there are rough days. Arguments and whatnot. But for the most part, you two had been happy. You guys had a good relationship.

Until tonight. You guys were out having a good time and just happened to run into her ex boyfriend. No, not Steve. See, you and Steve were good friends. He was Nancy’s first boyfriend but Nancy had never been in love with him. Jonathan Byers though? Her second boyfriend? That was a different story.

Jonathan had been her first love. A great love. You guys didn’t talk much about him and you hadn’t minded until now.

The run in had naturally been awkward and bittersweet. But it was a little tense as well, due to your presence. You were quiet the entire car ride home. And now, walking in to your guys’ shared apartment, you were still quiet. That made Nancy nervous.
