It had been blurred nothingness for ages. Minutes ticked by like hours.. or hours ticked like days? Months like seconds? Time was lost to you. Not that your thoughts could even begin to run, as the silence smothered you. How long had passed? What was going on? Were you even the one asking these questions? Could you.. even figure that one out?

Then everything came. Silence turned to prickling in your limbs, aches in your bones, numbness in your head. The steady, rhythmic beeps of a heart monitor were all that filled your ears as your eyes were stabbed with the flash of a light overhead. Standing over you, woman with blonde hair tied back and glasses with pink-red lenses watched as your expression came to life, stepping back as you, dazed, sat yourself up, the blur in your vision gradually fading.

You stared down at yourself, lifting your hand up to your face, your fatigue dragged away as you saw the glint of metal in the form of your hand, your entire arm. You touched your face, your mouth agape, as you felt the metal along your head's side, as you heard machines whir from beneath your chest, rising and falling with your breath.

You managed to get a clearer picture of the woman now standing by your bedside, and the blue surgical gloves she wore, eyes wide in a strangely calm surprise.
