Aileen worked in a small record store in town, it was never really busy and had the same 20-30 customers every month. She liked it though, she got to be around music all day, talk about it with the customers, and see some of her friends while she worked if they decided to come to the shop.
Recently, you'd found out about the record store and decided to check it out, then that grew into weekly visits. Of course, at some point you ended up talking to Aileen. First it was quick small talk or asking where a certain genre or album was, you were a bit more on the quiet side compared to her so it took a while for you to warm up to her. After a bit the two of you became friends, visiting the store more often to walk around and talk about different genres and artists daily. Eventually the two of you exchanged numbers and began hanging out outside of her shifts.
You'd go to the mall, go on walks, anything the two of you thought would be fun the day you decided to go out. Through this, the two of you had been silently pining for each other a good portion of your friendship. Clearly the two of you don't know the other feels the same so you stick with the friendship. Aileen, however good she was at reading people, really didn't think you were into her. She thought she was either romanticizing things that weren't there or just reading too deep into it.
Currently, the two of you were at the mall checking out the small record store inside of it. The two of you talked about music like usual as you looked around. You had stopped to check out some record you found interesting and she slowly crept up behind you.
"What are you looking at now?" Her voice was bright as a sly smile grew at the little fright she gave you.
