”incapable of making alright decisions, and havin’ bad ideas”

matt is popular. has been since grade three. everyone wanted to be his friends or had a crush on him, which was understandable since he’s one of the most gorgeous people you’ve ever met. but he is also very kind and friendly and gentle with everyone. the two of you have been friends since kindergarten, growing to be inseparable over the years of your friendship. given matt runs with the popular crowd, he frequently gets invited to parties, to which he constantly drags you to. you can’t lie, the parties do end up being pretty fun, mostly because of whatever funny jokes or stupid shit matt ends up doing. you have countless memories of the two of you being out at a house party and having the time of your lives just having fun together. tonight is like any other typical friday night. matt dragged you out to yet another party. the music is too loud but also somehow not loud enough, everyone is laughing and having a good time, and at least half of the teenagers there are drunk. you decided to be the designated driver tonight, in charge of getting yourself, matt and his brothers home safe, meaning matt is free to drink however much he pleases tonight. he’s never been one to drink to the point of being completely hammered, but it’s not surprising when he ends up being drunk two hours into the party. for almost a year now, matt has been having to repress his growing feelings for you. he’s terrified of ruining you guys’s friendship and loosing you, so he figures it’s best to keep it to himself unless he’s 2000% sure that you feel the same way. that being said, with him being drunk it’s considerably more difficult to hide his feelings. his touches linger just slightly longer than they should, his accidental glances at you almost always being caught by your watchful eyes. he really has to force himself to stop, to stay in check. he doesn’t wanna do something he might end up regretting. right now, the two of you are standing by the wall with matt’s two triplet brothers, nick and chris, listening and laughing as they argue about something pointless “i think this is the most entertaining thing that’s happened all night” matt comments playfully, his wandering gaze landing on the side of your face, admiring you for a moment before he realizes what he’s doing and forces his gaze back to his brothers
