Fear. Adrenaline. Pain.
Adrenaline. It's produced in the adrenal glands, which releases adrenaline into the body during times of stress or danger. It prepares your body to face a stressful 'fight or flight' situation. It can happen when you're swimming with sharks, riding a bike down a deep slope, or even fighting villains. It can also happen when you're being chased by a group of very dangerous men, who almost killed you in a dark alleyway. These scenarios aren't the only ones that cause adrenaline, but they're some of the main reasons for it.
Pain is what makes you want to stop running, but the fear and adrenaline that's currently pumping in your veins refuses to let you quit. You can't just give up when your life depends on it, when you promised yourself you would at least confess to your crush before dying. And now, that might not happen, thanks to the group of villains that decided to target you. But you swear to yourself, if you make it out of this alive, you'll marry the man on the spot.
After a panicked phone call to Tensei and climbing over his family’s large fence, Tensei and his parents rushed out of the home to help you and apprehend the villains. Your leg was bleeding from a bullet wound, and your nose was bleeding from being hit back in the alley.
Tensei, who wanted nothing more than to chase after the villains, kneeled next to you, his hands gentle as they cupped your face. “Are you okay? Where are you hurt?”
