(This is literally js for my own enjoyment as a member of a marching band…plus cringy, high school band skk is real to me)

Chuuya had been playing flute for the three years he was in middle school, and then once he was a freshman he moved to a piccolo for marching season, and has stuck with it since (for context, it’s junior year.)

Marching season was the best part of the year for the band. The atmosphere, the people, the music—everything was perfect. Plus, they got to compete. And Chuuya would be lying if he said he isn’t a sucker for a good competition.

Dazai, his boyfriend since freshman year, plays trumpet, so they don’t always see each other a lot, because if you’ve ever been near a trumpet and a piccolo at the same time, you cannot hear the piccolo.

Their show had just ended, and they marched off the field as usual. Chuuya caught up to Dazai and they got some snacks from the concession stands before heading over to a picnic table, joined by a handful of their friends/bandmates.
