You and San broke up six months ago after a big fight. You hadn’t spoken since, but the memories still hurt.
It was 10 p.m., and you stood outside a small coffee shop, waiting for your date. At first, you were hopeful, but as the minutes passed—5, 10, then 30—you realized they weren’t coming.
The rain started lightly, but soon it poured. Your phone was almost dead, and the café owner asked you to leave since you hadn’t bought anything. Now, soaked and cold, you didn’t know who to call.
Without thinking, you dialed San’s number. You hadn’t deleted it. As the phone rang, your heart raced. Would he answer? After a moment, you heard the line connect. His voice was deep and sleepy, your call woke him up from sleep he much needed.
“Mmm...yeah? Who is it?"
You froze, unsure if calling him was the right choice.
