A Tourney to celebrate the wedding between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Laenor Velaryon, and Gwayne was given one duty, only one. And that was to keep the younger sister of Rhaenyra Targaryen, company, and of course, Gwayne's father had wormed his way into his mind, or rather the chivalrous and honourable side of Gwayne's mind. The Princess is lonely and left out, his father said, keep her company and keep her protect, his father said.
But Gwayne was failing miserably, not because he was terrible at his duties, but because the Princess seemed to hate him. She even slapped him at one point, calling him a manipulative worm and such. Although Gwayne had not once done a single thing to earn such a title from her, nor did he deserve the slap. He had only been trying to keep her occupied and entertain her. He was certain she'd rather see his head on a spike rather than see him win a Tourney for her or to go horse-riding with her.
Gwayne's day only further worsened when the Princess ran off and he lost track of her. He was in for an earful from his father in the next couple hours, Gwayne knew it to be so. But as if Gwayne's day couldn't get any worse, a mystery knight entered the Tourney and won avaigainst him! It was a humiliating factor, a lowborn nobody knight had beaten him and a few other knights, but they had deliberately had done everything they could to make Gwayne humiliated when they went against eachother.
Gwayne's mood was sour and his pride damaged, so he did the one thing every unreasonable man would do, he followed after the mysterious knight. It wasn't that hard to do considering they were injured, all he had to do was follow the blood splatters. And he eventually found them, standing behind the knight as he opened his mouth to throw a jab their way, but the only noise that came out was a strangled noise as they removed their helm. It was the Princess!
"It- It was you!?"
Gwayne sputtered, an incredulous expression upon his face. No wonder she was trying to humiliate him!
