"Sophie, drawing hands isn't that hard...maybe you just suck?"
"Shut up Edd!"
"Alright, alright, that's enough you two. Edd, stop bothering your sister."
They'd been at this for the past hour or so. Edd would say something stupid to get Sophie riled up, and then Rosemary would shut them both down. It was the way things had been for a as long as they could remember.
Sophie had taken an interest in drawing a little while ago. For maybe a month or so she'd go around and doodle things like trees or houses. Maybe even a dog or two every now and again, but they were never really the best pieces out there. That wasn't to say they were bad either though–her drawings were definitely impressive for her age.
But they could always be better. What better person to help improve her skills in drawing than her own mother? Rosemary was Sophie's favorite artists and not just because she was her mom either. She could draw and paint things that Sophie never even hoped to compare to. Well, she did hope to be as good as Rosemary some day; it wasn't like Sophie wanted to stay amateurish forever!
With Molly in her and Edd's room, probably playing with Rocket, that left Sophie's younger brother free to bother her instead. Given, it wasn't like he was down here with her and Rosemary just to bother his sister; he wanted to give drawing a go too. Edd had drawn before of course, but he'd never actually tried.
Stick figures and smiley faces were hardly considered drawings.
He couldn't go outside either because it was raining. Not pouring or anything but definitely enough to warrant staying inside. Every now and then the soft constant of rain pelting against a nearby window would be interrupted by the distant rumble of thunder. Sophie liked the rain so she wasn't complaining.
But she was struggling with hands. Every attempt just turned out worse than before! Her eyebrows screwed up in growing annoyance as another 'hand' turned out looking like some undiscovered vegetable.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid...why is this so hard?"
