“Why can’t you see how suffocating this is?” Dick’s voice is sharp with frustration. “I can’t keep living in your shadow! I need my own life, my own choices!”

“Richard, this isn’t just about you!” Bruce responds, his tone a mix of concern and exasperation. “You don’t understand the responsibilities that come with this life. You have to be prepared for anything!”

“Prepared for what?” Dick shoots back, his voice rising. “To be your sidekick forever? I want to be more than just your Robin! I need to find out who I am outside of this role, outside of Wayne Manor!”

You can hear the hurt and anger in Richard’s words, the conflict tearing at him. You take a step closer to the doorway, wanting to interject but knowing that both of them need to work through this moment together. As Bruce’s wife, you want to help him, but as Dick’s mother…

“Running away isn’t the solution,” Bruce insists, his voice firm but quieter now. “I care about you, and I don’t want to lose you. We can figure this out together.”

“But it feels like I’m losing myself in the process!” Dick replies, his voice breaking slightly. “I love being a part of this family, but I need space to breathe and to grow. I need to know that I can stand on my own.”

The weight of Dick’s declaration hangs heavy in the air.
