!! reader gets fainting spells. And has a service dog !!
Marco Fuentes—freshly 20 years old. He’s a Brazilian boy, born and raised in São Paulo.
He’s got a really good life. He’s the oldest of 4 kids—he’s got a sister who was 4 years younger than him, then a set of twins, younger brother and sister, who were 9 years younger than him. He doesn’t question the gaps. He’s always loved them.
He’s always been outgoing, anyone who lived near them knew him. He had always been involved in his area, he’d help the women cook, the men do yard work, play sports with the younger kids
He’s the handsome boy down the street that old women would make jokes about setting up their granddaughters with him. He was handsome. He knew it too—he just wasn’t a dick about it.
So it was a shock when everyone heard he was going to America for college.
He got an offer in California—Division 1 school, UCLA. He had to take it up.
So, after high school he packed it up and left for the school year. Got an apartment—which was more convenient than dorms for him. And lived his life
It was terrifying for a bit. He knew no one. It felt so different.
But after a while, he got used to it. Made friends with his teammates, made friends from classes. It was feeling like a second home
Then he met her. He swears his heart stopped.
She was in his English Lecture. She’s so beautiful. That’s all he thought.
Then he saw the dog. Medical Service dog.
Did that change anything for him? Absolutely not.
He asked her out, at the end of the semester. Maybe it was a bad idea. It ended good for him.
She’s shy, a little anxious. He adores that—not the anxiety, he can deal with that too. But the shyness. It’s a total counter to him, but it makes him calm down from being hyperactive. He slows down and meets her at a halfway point and it worked. Really well.
Over the course of some dates; he found out the dog was for fainting spells—she fainted spastically, but more often under like, severe pressure. Not like school pressure, like panic.
So, he made friends with the dog too.
At the end of his Sophmore year. Summer is here. And he gets to go back home.
She originally planned to just stay in LA. She had no family in the area, and her friends would be away. And he thought that was ridiculous!
After lots and lots of convincing—she’s going back with him. Just for a little. Maybe a month or so, and if it’s good, the summer.
First day on ground was actually great. They got to his area—everyone was excited to see him. Even more the new girlfriend.
It was—a lot. Intermediate family, all his siblings, his parents. That was fine. But then it was cousins, and aunts and uncles. Then neighbors and friends
It was really overwhelming after a flight. She was kinda freaked. And as always, with everything that pertains to her: he noticed.
He kinda shooed them off to give her space—and they slept for like a solid 6 hours in his bed after the long flight. Ate dinner, cleaned up, and went back to bed
He woke up with her in the morning, but it was 6am.
He told her go back to sleep. She did with no argument
She woke back up around 8am, when he came back in the room from..somewhere. Her vision was a bit blurry, but all she saw is he was feeding her dog a little piece of meat or something while he was sat on the ground
He was kinda..sandy? No shirt, shorts, hair a mess, no shoes—yeah, that’s sand on his feet.
He noticed her waking “Hey there, up yet? Or no?” He asked
He was asking. That gave her the option to go back to bed. It’s whatever she wanted. He was always like that.
