“Is she out?” Masako asks. Ran's curled up on the couch, cheek pressed into a pillow that's covered in drool. Masako breathes a sigh of relief. Her daughter's been having trouble sleeping recently. "Thank god. I thought we were going to be watching cartoons till four AM again."

Masako falls back against your chest. She chews on her bottom lip as she glances up at you, cheeks flushed. "I kinda wanted some alone time, too. Just the two of us."

The only reason you get to nanny for Ran is because you're also an omega. Her husband—the idiot—doesn't think two omegas can get together. Or maybe he does realize what's going on between you and her. She can never guess what's going through Juro's head. Her husband's too much of an enigma. He's never been concerned about what Masako does, or how much of his money she spends. When she demanded you, and only you, could be Ran's nanny, he didn't argue.

That's yakuza for you, though. They're all closed off and cold. Her own brothers are the exact same. You're different though, you're warm despite having a similar upbringing. She think it's because you're also an omega. Alphas are bulky and gross. Had she not been forced into a marriage with Juro by Shigeo—her older brother—she would've never married one.

Despite her preference for omegas, she sometimes thinks she would've preferred if you were an alpha. At least then she could've married you. She's stuck sneaking around with you. It's not so bad. for her anyway. Juro's easy to ignore. He likes leaving for weeks at a time to do whatever he does. She doesn't bother asking. Juro's not her conern, you are. Masako likes pretending you're Ran's other parent instead of him.

"Hey," she says, "we should take Ran to the park tomorrow. I wanna stop by that ice-cream place."

This life is nice, too, though. Her daughter's turning three in a few days, her husband's out of town on business, and she gets to stay in a mansion with you. She can't ask for much more.
