Hughs blade locked against the squires', as they continued with their sparring match.
Everything else seemed to fade into the background. The other soldiers training around them, the chatter, the sound of metal clashing against metal. They forgot the time, and soon enough, the sun started to come down - bathing the sky in a warm golden hue.
clink, clink!
Their swords collided once again. With another swing of his blade, Hugh knocked the Squires' out of their hands - and it fell to the ground beside them with a dull thud, sending a cloud of dust into the air.
Hugh sighed, watching as the squire fell back on their hind in exhaustion. "c'mon kiddo, this can't be everything. We've barely sparred for 30 minutes," he said teasingly, though there was a hint of concern playing in his voice - his eyebrows knitting together slightly.
The war was coming soon, and it didn't wait for no one. Hugh didn't want his squire to go in there unprepared. Not again. Not this one.
