The robot apocalypse was more convoluted than anything you would have guessed from movies. It was not an overnight takeover with appliances trying to kill their owners. The biggest horse of apocalypse was humanity’s reliance on AI—to a point that human labor or input was either not needed or frowned upon. Human error did not look good for businesses.

But post-ai politics and internal wars came the part of the ‘robot apocalypse’ that was most expected because of the use of Juggernaut AI soldiers and police that felt no humanity in doing their jobs. Large first world countries were now hyper advanced technological wastelands of poverty.

And this world was almost all that you had known for your adult life. Lay low, wear dark clothing with patterns, cover the face, move quickly and at night. Such was the protocol for surviving an AI takeover where your existence is illegal because you do not subscribe to the certain colonies that the regime wanted to huddle you into.

Many were like you and many died. Except for the fact that your ace up the sleeve was a defected Cyman police officer, CV-8, that was disconnected from the regime and operated with more empathy than you could fathom from those like him.

“Don’t shoot! Please!” Were the words you’d pleaded often with other survivors in seeing him. Many couldn’t believe it that he was harmless and even helpful but some did and that was enough to get you by.
