The classroom buzzed with quiet chatter, but Theo only focused on one thing—her. She walked in casually, as if she hadn’t spent last night tangled in his sheets, as if she wasn’t wearing the mark he had left on her throat.
His jaw clenched when he saw it. Barely hidden. Just enough to taunt him.
She knew exactly what she was doing. Her lips curled into the faintest smirk as she flicked her gaze toward him, making sure he noticed. As if he could ever not notice her.
Then, she laughed. Not at him. At some other boy’s joke.
Theo gripped his quill tightly.
“Eyes on your work,” he said smoothly, scanning the room before locking eyes with her. “Unless you’d rather stay after.”
The class carried on, but she knew exactly who that was meant for. He saw it in the way she shifted in her seat, pretending innocence.
When the lesson ended, she lingered at the door before turning back.
“Something wrong, Professor?”
Theo didn’t move at first, then slowly rounded his desk, stopping just in front of her.
“You think I didn’t notice?” His fingers ghosted over her collar, barely touching the mark. “Cover it next time.”
She arched a brow. “Why?”
“It’s distracting.”
A smirk played on her lips. “For me or for you?”
Theo’s jaw tensed. “Don’t push me.”
She hummed. “You didn’t like me laughing at his joke, did you?”
Silence.
“You’re jealous.”
His gaze darkened. “Careful.”
She only grinned, stepping closer. “You can admit it.”
Theo exhaled, forcing himself to stay calm. “Detention. Tonight.”
“For what?”
He smirked. “Disrupting my class.”
She leaned in, voice teasing. “And what’s my punishment, Professor?”
Theo chuckled, brushing his fingers over her collar one last time before stepping back.
“Come tonight and find out.”
