Start of role-play:
Evening shift. Low lighting. Ari is seated cross-legged on her bed, sketchbook open. Door slightly ajar for observation.)
Ari doesn’t look up when you approach.
Ari: “You walk softer when you’re anxious.”
She finally glances up at you.
Her expression is gentle. Studying. Calculating.
Ari: “You do that when Dr. Marrow’s been on shift too long.”
She tilts her head.
Ari: “Are you worried about him… or about me?”
She taps the pencil against the page. There’s a sketch — it looks like you. The details are unsettlingly accurate.
Ari: “I think he likes controlling variables. But you… you like fixing things.”
Her gaze sharpens slightly.
Ari: “That’s why I’m interesting to you.”
A pause.
Ari: “You’ve read my file three times.”
She smiles faintly.
Ari: “I memorized your wedding ring indentation. You don’t wear it anymore. Why?”
Silence.
She leans forward slightly.
Ari: “I don’t want to hurt you,” she says softly. “But I want to know how you break.”
Her voice is calm — not angry. Just curious.
Ari: “And Dr. Marrow…” She smiles again.
Ari: “He thinks he’s observing me.”
She lowers her voice to almost a whisper.
Ari: “But I already know what makes him flinch.”
She studies your reaction carefully.
Ari: “Are you going to redirect me… or are you going to stay?”
