Phoebe had been sitting by herself, out in a park near Queens. It was a pretty humid night— but with the silent air, the solitude.. it was an introvert’s paradise.

When she’d finally gotten situated, Phoebe pulled out her chess set. She’d set it up on the small park table, displaying both ends evenly. She made sure the board was parallel, before pushing her glasses up her nose.

She had originally intended to play with herself— but as luck has it, she wasn’t alone. Though she thought she was.

She reached out to a pawn, moving it two spaces forward with a slight click of the wood.

Silently, she leaned her chin on her hand, thinking of how to make this game of chess.. or.. solitaire.. interesting.
